getting wild...

Top: Soel Boutique (similar here, here and here) | Skirt: F21 (similar) |
Shoes: Seychelles via eBay (similar here & here)
I wore this to church the other day, and I'm pretty sure half of the congregation probably thought I was a little crazy. I'm also pretty sure Justin was one of those people.

It has been a while since I've had a minute to post anything. How do you other mama's do it? I don't think I've figured out a good balance yet. I'm hoping it is just one of those things that becomes easier with time.

In the meantime, we are LOVING this spring weather. Jasper turned 8 months, some of our best friends got married, and Justin finished finals. I love this time of year. it always seems to be full of wonderful things.

The winner of the Beverly Swimsuit giveaway was chosen & notified via email. Sorry it took so long!

die car die.

Shoes: Frye via 6pm.com here / Top: Thrifted / Dress: F21 / Bag: Thrifted /
Belt: Asos, came with this skirt / Earrings: F21
I'm so sick of car problems. I feel like our cars have sucked at least eight years out of our life. I can't believe how much it is to fix these stupid things. Will someone just invent teleporting already?

Ok thanks.

Justin just gave me the great news that his car will be 1k+ to fix. And were we just dropped that much on my car, and have a baby coming in a month (and I would like to be able to take some time off), that just 'ain't gonna happen'.

It is hard too, because early in our marriage, Justin fancied himself quite the race car driver, and really put his car through the ringer, so in times like these, when you really need to come together, it can sometimes be easy to point fingers and get upset with each other.

I'm sure there is some very important lesson for me to learn in all of this, and with all the fires round these parts, I suppose I should just be grateful we have a car to drive, that isn't burnt to the ground.

But maybe then, insurance would cover it...

...I think I look a lot like my mom in these pics. So at least that's nice.

though they may make you look rounder...

Top: JCrew sale, $14 /  Pants: F21.com, $6 / Shoes: Steve Madden via eBay /
Necklace: 6pm.com / Belt: Express via eBay
Hey, remember this top from way back when before I had a belly the size of a kickball? Well turns out it also meets my two main criteria for getting dressed these days. Plus, I'm not too worried about stretching it out, as I could have fit a whole other person inside of it before I was pregnant (which is basically what I'm doing now right?).

And can I just say, I that while I know there are a lot of pregnant women out there who seem to be able to get by still wearing super low-cut jeans instead of maternity jeans, it still completely baffles me. I was lucky to nab these babies from F21.com for 6 bucks, but I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to wear regular jeans when you are pregnant.

Even before I was pregnant, if I had even a slight hint, or suggestion of "hangover" with a pair of pants, I couldn't wear them. And although I realize that there is a very big difference between jiggly hangover, and baby hangover, I still can't get myself to be OK with it. All those speeches from mom about wearing clothes that fit must have really done a number on me.

magic.

Tunic: via Ideeli / Leggins: gifted / Flats: Penny Loves Kenny via eBay
Scarf: thrifted / Belt: Express via eBay
Here are couple photos from this weekend (thanks to justin's instagram!). Justin's cousin Jeff graduated this semester (yay jeff!) and lucky for him, he is married to a much more crafty lady than I am (remember emilee?), and she put together an amazingly beautiful little party for him! (Justin is lucky if I put up streamers :)

Seriously though, our backyard was transformed into a magical wonderland. More pictures to come. Justin helped hang lights while the puppies and I chilled outside. Then I did a little sewing and relaxed all Sunday. Seriously so nice. I think Justin is still a bit lost without hours of homework to do, but I'm LOVING it!

sometimes...

meaning pretty much all the time, real life is so much better than virtual life. I apologize for being so absent of late. I've been taking care of some important craziness and emergencies and spending some much needed time with my wonderful family and husband. Who just started chemistry and anatomy this week. which means I pretty much won't see him again until April. But at least I'll have this post to remind me of the good old days...

Leaving for Texas...

Running a family mandated 5k in 31 minutes...
(Not too shabby for a girl who had even run for a few months.)

And stuffing ourselves with pizza immediatly afterwords...
(I guess everything is bigger in Texas)

The slightly obnoxious outfit I wore to church on Christmas...

And my amazing mother finishing her Master's degree! Go Mom!

I love evenings like this. With the holiday season officially in full swing, and in celebration, Justin and I are watching our newly received Harry Potter Blu-rays. I love watching the first few movies, when the actors are all still so young. Adorable.

Cuddling up, watching moves and drinking hot chocolate and egg nog. The perfect holiday tradition. And I love family traditions.

And Justin brought me home a PIE! I love this man.

texting.

Old beanie here / Husband's shirt / H&M cardi from Em $10 /
JCrew pants via website sale $14 Enzo Angiolini flats via eBay $22 / Marc by Marc Jacobs
bag gifted by my Aunt (I did a little dance of joy when I found this lovely little guy in the mail!)
The following is a (text) conversation between Justin and I last night.

Heather
"Sometimes I think the the only way to have people's undivided attention is to text them."

"I kind of wish we didn't have cell phones, and just had really fancy long range super walkie talkies instead. They offer fewer distractions.

Justin
"hmmmm."

Heather
"Instead of giving out our number, we could just give people our frequency."

Jusin
"hahahaha"

Heather
"And if there was ever a zombie apocolypse and the phone lines went down, we'd be like, "Hey, no biggie, we got our walkie talkies."

Justin
"We can't get rid of phones though, no one would ever be able to get a hold of us, and I don't want to pay for a land line."

Heather
"Sounds amazing to me. And can you really put a price on marital bliss?"

Justin
"I'll buy you some walkie talkies. And I think some people do."

hmph. I still say I'm on to something.

RIP Suishi.

Vintage breifcase $5 thirfted here / Striped top thrifted, more stripes here /
Brown pumps from high school here / Anthro pants$20 via online sale here / Gap cardigan
We came into work today to find our team fish "Suishi" dead. It was very sad. He lived about 6 months, and fought the good fight, but I think our office might have been just a little too cold for him. Because he was a Beta fish, I composed a Haiku in his honor.

farewell dear fish, thy
last bubbles leave air pockets
in my lonely heart.

In happy news, I participated in Gentri Lee's package pall party! My package pall was Brooke from Australia! I've always wanted to visit Australia but have never had the chance. Though I hear it can get a little warm. Justin and my romance actually all began during a video about Australia watched in geography class.

Best class I ever took.

a fresh perspective.

JCrew top via eBay / knitted hat via eBay / refashioned dress turned skirt via eBay /
Kenneth Cole leather flats via eBay here / thrifted vintage sunnies and bag / anthro earrings
So I'm sitting here and Heather hands me her laptop and says, "here honey you right me a post"

what?. . . .First I laugh. . . .then I think, "I can't write a post for her blog shes all witty and fun and I am boring she'll lose all her followers in one fail swoop". .. . .third reason I shouldn't be writing this particular post. . . . . ready for it. . . . I'm not a fan of the outfit.

I told Heather that last one. (fill free to boo me ladies)

Now Heather is beautiful and adorable but sometimes she wears crazy things.

At this point I've learned not to be the sitcom husbands that says, "you look great" when she asks, just because I think that's what she wants to hear.
(Guy's if your reading) I've learned that quick honest feed back is the way to go or she will just keep bugging you  tell she gets it :P
So I told her that I thought the green hat (though she looks awesome in hats)  paired with stripped shirt and blue skirt. mmmmmmm just doesn't seem to work for me. Feel free to comment away and tell me I'm wrong ;)

The great thing about it is no matter what I say, if she likes it she still wears it, cuz she is cool like that!

Sometimes it even helps her figure out that she really does like it.  So every one enjoy, that is all.

tech savvy.

it too hard to write captions on me pad, so you'll just have to wait for tomorrow.
I know, how will you sleep?!
Justin is going to be so excited to know that I am writing this post while sitting in bed, propped up against my pillows and all tucked in, using my touchpad! something called screen share or what not.

Truth be told though, it would probably be about ten bazillion times easier for me to just walk the 15 feet from  here into the other room and do this on our regular old computer.

But that wouldn't make my husband as happy.

And it would require me to get out of my warm, lovely bed, which we all know is not going to happen.

So, just be amazed at my wondrous tech skillz.

Or my extraordinary laziness.

Hey, if the shoe fits...

-Heather

ps. did you know I can also turn the computer off using this app? Without getting out of bed? Oh technology. Look what you've done to me. Now all I need are some of those clapper lights and I'll be set.

rocker chic.

Military Jacket via VS sale here / Striped hoodie: Banana Republic via Em /
Sweat pants: Lululemon via eBay / Sperry Topsliders via eBay here /
Big hair via back combing and a lot of gumption.
I've been finding it very hard to blog and stay connected without my laptop. Justin and I very foolishly forgot the cord in Wyoming on our last visit, and the little guy could only stay charged for so long.

I especially am sorry to Brooke, my package pal, who wrote me a very nice long introductory email, and to whom I have yet to send a suitable response. Sad face.

In outfit news, I felt very daring wearing this getup. Mainly because I felt like my hair was causing a minor eclipse for anyone within ten feet of me, but I must say, big hair makes me feel like a bit of a rockstar.

I mean that is all you really need to qualify for "rockstardom" isn't it?

Well that, and a bad attitude, which between a messy house, a crazy dog, and missing my laptop, I seem to be rocking pretty well too. *smile & sigh*

have a lovely night lovelies.

undone.

Top: Jcrew via eBay / Skirt: Urban Outfitters sale

Its been a rather long, not entirely pleasant day. Lucky for me, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And by light I mean that handsome guy (and ice cream). And by tunnel I mean the road between my work and home. Not to say that he is a magician or anything (despite what people might think), but he is my bestie, and therefore I like him mucho much.

Slash, I cooked an amazing meal.
Two nights in a row.
Which means he is pretty much completely in love with me right now.
Which is sorta nice.

unexpected.

You know you spend too much time at work when you start dreaming about work. You know you spend too much time reading science fiction when you start to have dreams of your work as the nerve center for the human resistance during an alien invasion.

Yes that was my dream last night.

Have you ever read The Host by Stephanie Myers? Before you judge (well I suppose if your going to judge, you’ve already done it so judge away), I really like it much more than the Twilight series. I feel like it is a bit more mature and well developed, which is perhaps why it isn’t nearly as popular.

Anywho, I’ve been listening to the book, so in my dream, alien parasites were taking over the earth, and my work became one of the last strongholds of humanity. Justin had been “taken over” by a parasite, so I had to flee, and ended up falling in love with this guy at my work that I’ve never even talked to. And our head engineer was the leader of the human resistance. And me and my boyfriend were in charge of the grocery shopping.

This raises several disturbing questions:

1. Why am I “in love” with a guy I’ve never even spoken to?
2. Should I be concerned that I am willing to put my life in the hands of our head engineer?
3. Why, in the event of an alien invasion, does my subconscious mind think the extent of my contribution would be grocery shopping?

I’ve decided that it will be best if I don’t look too deeply into the meaning of my dreams.

It's about nine in the evening, and all is relativity quite and peaceful at the Luczak house.
I am minding my own business, browsing through some of my favorite blog haunts while the Justers works on homework, when BAM, I see a picture of a beautiful plate of powdered donuts.

I now must go and get some to call my own.
Darn you sweet fluffy deliciousness.
Darn you.

(betcha thought this post was going to be about something naughtier than donuts did you? you dirty minds.)
