I like me.

Some of you may have read in the past my "I'm a natural beauty" posts. I've decided to make a shift in the cause, to make it a more clear and direct message about promoting healthy self worth. I'm sorry if you were already on the "I'm a natural beauty" list, I hope you will all re-link here! These are my thoughts:

There are too many things in this world that bring people down: unrealistic beauty ideals and ridiculous comparisons; standards and molds that if you don't fit into, people look at you funny and wonder "what is wrong with you?"

This makes me sad.

Regardless of weight, skin tone, age, or pay grade, you should love yourself for who you are, as you are.

So, by joining this list, you are committing to like yourself. Not just liking yourself, but celebrating yourself, your uniqueness, your difference,  your talents; you. You are committing to really appreciating yourself as you are and trying to avoid comparing yourself to anyone else.

Show your commitment and identify with the group by putting one of these little buttons on your blog sidebar, and  make a practice of writing and noticing things that you like about yourself, and why you like being you. Promote your own healthy self worth, and we can inspire others to do the same!

I am a Natural Beauty.

Look mom, no makeup, except for my favorite shade of bright pink lipstick!

Things have been so so crazy lately, I haven't had a chance to do a Natural Beauty Post for a while, which is such a shame, as there are already three other lovely natural beauties!

Did you know that there are support websites that promote the maintaining anorexia and bulimia in a "healthy" way. Aside from the fact that there is no way that either can ever be good for the body, these kind of cites illustrate how warped and distorted society's view of "beauty" really is. It has created in the mind of all of us, to some degree, an unhealthy, unobtainable beauty "ideal". I hope that we all can avoid judgment and offer appropriate and kind support to anyone who we know who may struggle with either of these frightening disorders.

I hope you will also join with me in promoting natural health, and realistic beauty! I am 24, I weigh 145 pounds, and I love every one of them. I am beautiful, and healthy. I try to take care of the wonderful gift which is my body by exercising regularly, and I love and value my body for what it is!

If you post once or more a month about natural beauty, put my button up on your sidebar, and shoot me an email so I can add you to our list! Hopefully I'll be able to get a regular link up soon!

I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining.

Striped shirt: Old Navy sale $4.50
Skinny Jeans: DC, gift
Rain Boots: Old Navy sale $10
I love that song. I only know the chorus and like half of one of the verses, but does that stop me from singing it at the top of my lungs on days like this? I think not! Come come, you should know me better by now! Our rainy day weather was the perfect day for me to do another Natural Beauty post, as all the wetness made me not want to get dressed at all. In fact, I didn’t even shower. So there. That’s half of the reason why I’m wearing a headband! Aren’t they marvelous?!

By the way, an over sized button up with a belt is the perfect solution if you want something that is comfy, cute, and complimentary for just about everyone, so try it out! Add that to some bright orange lipstick and I was ready for the day! Go on and try it! Embrace your natural look! If anyone is interested in linking up with this cause, check it out here.

I wanted to share this short, but extremely disturbing video with all of you. I’m sure many have already seen it, but I think it’s always important to be reminded what all goes into making what the media puts forth as “ideal” beauty. We actually talked about this issue over and over again in my adolescent development class. Adolescents especially need to understand the value of natural beauty. So let’s spread the word shall we?

I flossed really hard this morning...

And it kinda hurt.

Remember that little rant I had last week about embracing your natural beauty? Well I’ve decided that I want to continue that by doing a post every week about natural beauty. The idea is that at least once a week, I will do a post where I only wear only one item of makeup (or none, depending on how I'm feeling). Today is the first one. I got up this morning, washed my face, put on moisturizer and lipstick, and I was set to go! How liberating is that!?!

I really think that the general standard for beauty in our society is really damaging. Even among the blogging community, who are the epitome of honestly in the fashion world, a lot of the blogs that do really well, are written by sweet darling girls that 99.9% of girls in America will never look like, nor should. So. Here is to us girls of all shapes and sizes. I'm a 140 pound, healthy, happy girl who doesn't need makeup to be beautiful. Doesn't that just make your heart sing?

So I'll be posting an "I'm a natural Beauty" post every, and talking about healthy body image. I'm thinking about making it into a weekly link back post where others can join me in shedding their masks if anyone is interested. Which you should be. Because we can change the world gals. So grab a button, and spread the word.
